A Rare Famille Rose Chinese Export Porcelain Tureen, Cover and Stand

Many designs in 18th century Chinese Export porcelain are familiar to us as, for efficiencies of production, patterns were repeated on a regular basis. But occasionally, a design appears that is unfamiliar. This tureen is from such a single service that was made as a special order only. It is painted in a pattern that relates to Chinese mythology referring to longevity and only a few pieces have appeared on the market over the last forty years.

One of the rarer European-subjects found on Chinese Export porcelain. This plate with the gilt highlights and depicting Table Mountain in Southern Africa is a rare surviver and a gem.
